Interesting Notes
- Paul J. Rector, PVT, U.S. Army, 803rd Engineering Battalion, Aviation Group, WWII, serving in the Southwest Pacific Theatre: Philippine Islands. He was a Japanese Prisoner of War (POW) who died in June 1942 at Camp #1 - Cabanatuan 1-2-3 Nueva Province, Luzon, Philippines 15-121.
His remains were returned home for burial on April 21, 1949. He was laid to rest on Friday, April 22, 1949, after funeral services held here at Mountain Home, next to his Mother. - Jesse M. Durham, PVT, U.S. Army, F305, Inf., 77th Division A.E.F., WWI, France, died on November 10, 1918, at the base hospital of Pneumonia.
He was buried in Nievre, France as were many others who lost their lives during the war. His wife Bertha had him disinterred and sent home.
He left St. Nazaire on November 20, 1920, aboard the U.S. Wheaton bound for Hoboken, NJ. The Wheaton arrived in Hoboken on December 15, 1920, and Jesse arrived at the Valley Head train depot on January 15, 1921.
He was then interred at Mountain Home, where Bertha joined him in 1974. They were married on May 25, 1918. - There are 113 unmarked graves in the cemetery, and there are no records to support who they are or when they were buried here.
